What We Believe

What We Believe

At St. Mark’s, we are a United Methodist Church. We believe that we are Authentically imperfect Christ followers uniting all seeking grace and belonging. This means that We Follow Jesus Christ. We try to live like Jesus and learn from him every day. He shows us how to love God and love others.

Nobody is perfect, and that’s okay! We recognize that we are Authentically Imperfect. God loves us just the way we are. We don’t have to pretend. God accepts us where we are, but he doesn’t want us to stay there.

Grace is central to us.  Grace means God gives us love and forgiveness even when we messup. We all need it – and it’s a transforming gift!

Everyone is welcome in God’s family to find Belonging. We don’t have to look or act a certain way – God wants us to feel at home. We seek to be a people of Unity who bring people together, not push them apart. Love makes us one big family!

As a United Methodist Church, our core beliefs are reflected in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds, and our Articles of Faith.  We are guided in life and faith through scripture, tradition, reason, and experience. We believe that a life of faith is not only about what we believe about God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, but also how we seek to living a lifestyle of loving God and Loving our neighbors in real ways.
